Friday 19th March - walk ***** - Felixstowe sunrise prom walk – sunny periods.

Woke around 4 this morning, then only dozed so we decided to get up early head down to the seafront to catch the sunrise after several cloudy days. Left home at 5.40 and were soon at the beach but there was a bank of cloud out to sea although inland looked clear. Still, we were treated to a nice sunrise as the red ball breached the horizon always special and this is definitely the best time of day to be out and about, sharing it with a few jogger, dog walkers and open water swimmers:) I got some nice pics too to send to ITV/BBC local weather but unfortunately, they were not used:( Mag and I walked to the end of the prom at The Manor end, a round trip of 3 miles. With the breeze light it was a pleasant stroll before retuning to bed with a cuppa and our books and kittens:)

Friday 19th March - bike ***** - Felixstowe to Levington– sunny.

With wall-to-wall sunshine now it was too good an opportunity to miss with more cloud forecast for the weekend it was time to get out on the bikes again. So, after a morning at home, me doing my exercises and Mag pottering in the garden I packed a salad and we left home at 1.15 not sure where to go, we decided on Levington Church in the end. Taking several footpaths around Felixstowe Academy with loads of both white and pink blossom looking great set against the deep blue sky:) Then along Trimley High Road always a worry on our bike as the cars seem to pass too quick and too close, finally reaching the cycle path along the busy A 14 leading to the old Ipswich Road before turning left to Levington Village. We decide against sitting on the seat by the church, instead picking the one on the green opposite with stunning views down to the River Orwell the usual big herd of deer laying in the field below, the perfect spot for lunch and delicious it was too:) We were there ages just relaxing taking in the views, watching the boats on the river in what looked like a good breeze down towards the docks, perhaps I could have gone windsurfing after all today but never mind as we had a fantastic day together enjoying the best of Suffolk. We had a bird of prey do a fly past and were not sure if it was a buzzard or marsh harrier? Well rested we take the footpath down to Levington creek and onto the marina. The badly damaged Harwick/Shotley/Felixstowe foot ferry as now been repaired and will soon be back in service when things start to open up:) Our windsurfing area is still very congested with pontoons being repaired, fingers crossed they will have completed the work when the marina is again open for windsurfing at the end of the month! Then we continue through the marina bumping into some friends we saw on our recent walk here stopping for a chat. Past Loompit Lake and with the tide high it was pretty as a picture spotting waders and ducks. Up the hill past the lake taking a variety of footpaths and country lanes home for a welcome cuppa and cake. After a couple of hectic days, we might take it easy over the weekend, perhaps watching the Rugby, wondering what England team turns up the good one or the terrible one????
